Agenda
Thursday: A late arrival in Fay so we’d be all ready to go on Friday.
Friday: We left in the early afternoon to go to Roaring River State Park, directly next to Mark Twain National Forest, for a hike around the Fire Tower Trail Loop. We hiked the first mile, found a clearing at the top, cooked and ate delicious food, then camped in the same hammock together.
Saturday: Woke up in the woods, hiked the rest of the beautiful loop, although we never made it to the top of the fire tower due to a sneaky rattlesnake. Then we left for Ozark, MO to stay at my parents’ place. Though tired, we still made time for a date at Cafe Cusco before heading to the wine center to pick out a bottle and some cheese and other goodies to snack on outside by the fire. It was a good night of conversation.
Sunday: Woke up in a guest bedroom, got up and had breakfast downtown at the (for some reason) infamous Gailey’s Cafe, then walked around the nature center, went back home to pack things up, then got lunch at That Lebanese Place and a quick coffee at European Café before leaving to head back to Fay. We watched some Polar Express before calling it a night – I stayed for an extra sleep.
Monday: I left early in the morning after a weekend well-spent.
